If you happen to be interested in both Buddhism and analytic philosophy, then here’s a kind of an interesting thing I hadn’t run across before. Daniel Dennet makes a little presentation of the main points invoked in his book Breaking the Spell, and in the agenda of that “bright” movement attendant to everything he does these days. Robert Thurman quizzes Dennet about what a scientific investigation of religion should look like; and in particular how complete a lense is evolutionary biology. The center for buddhist studies at Columbia Uni (whence I link) links to both text and audio of the discussion. If you know both of these guys, it’s a great discussion; and also if you know one or neither.
Real Smart Guys on a Real Interesting Topic.
